ARD, Inc., on behalf of USAID's Local Governance Program in Albania (LGPA), and pursuant to the authority contained in the United States Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, as amended, is seeking applications from qualified non-U.S. Non-Governmental Organizations, and from U.S. Non-Governmental Organizations registered with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), to implement grant program components within ARD's Local Governance Program in Albania.
The selected Recipients will be responsible for helping to ensure achievement of the program objective "to support local governance while promoting local economic development in Albania." LGPA is supporting ten local governments by stimulating private sector growth through various planning, promotional, borrowing and public-private partnership initiatives, and by improving city governance through effective public asset management, revenue collection and service delivery.
Please note that only a small amount of funds remain in the LGPA small grants fund. This round of grant awards will be conducted on a competitive basis, within the time limits noted in the heading of this letter. It is expected that awards will be made on or before 30 September, 2010 and that grant activities will be completed before March 1, 2011.
Grant Activity Progress Report
Until March 2010, the Local Governance Program in Albania (LGPA) has issued 24 grants that focus on fostering establishment of the partner cities' strategy indicators system, registration of municipal assets, participatory budgeting process, feasibility studies, cleaning service improvement, development of business plans, building of a model of transparency and stimulation of broadening civic participation in governance, etc.
